The subject of many a Dystopian Science Fiction Novels and Movies, microchipping or “chipping” has sparked furious debate on efficacy and privacy grounds. The chips used would be a replacement for current Bio-metric identification methods. Many a privacy advocate and conspiracy theorist have theorized that this form of identification does not provide any advantage to the user but is just a another form of systemic control that would only benefit technocrats and authoritarian regimes, rather than the populations it is meant to help.
Recently a Wisconsin business owner caught the attention of the News Media when he asked his employees to voluntarily submit to being chipped in a effort to save time and money at his corporate headquarters.
