HOT on the heals of my previous story about Apple’s new number two ranking among music stores. Here is study urging the Hollywood to cut Apple out of the equation. No I am not in favor of Apple having a monopoly on digital distribution. But let’s face it they were not the first to market but the best in market. A closed system with watermaking drm was pushed by Liquid Audio in 96. So why 12 years later is everyone so surprised? I mean the Industry has a decade to repond properly and they have not. I don’t know how many of you ave watch the sci-fi cult classic “they live”. in that movie an alien race sets up a totalitarian regime using mind-control and robotic surveillance. The flying robots used in the cities to spy on the population work in a similar manner to technology we have now. What gives. Why pull a big brother move when you can hire more officers and provide employment ? The move towards law enforcement automation is very disturbing. Major cities now have cameras on most high ways and intersections but traffic still snarls, and accidents still happen at red light. They have a myriad of satellites to watch us from space, they now have the legal right to monitor all internet and phone activity (Supreme court case just granted). This is a very disturbing trend.
